The idea for ZemePur™ (pronounced zee-may-pure) Bento Style Lunch originated after a particularly nasty incident with a broken glass container I was using to transport my lunch. Most days my colleagues and I bring food to work and it is always a struggle to find a product that was re-usable, non-toxic, lightweight and microwavable. We saw that there already were some solutions on the market but none that were able to achieve the flexibility or thermal resistance we desired in a lunch container.

Our goal was to not only make the best lunch box solution, we wanted it to be the healthiest. Before we began the official product design, we closely evaluated non-fossil fuel derived (plastic) materials with a flexible temperature range. Silicone was the perfect feedstock but we could find very little scientific data on silicone use in food products. Extensive testing was performed to validate purity, effects of colorants and additives.
Bento box style simply offered the most flexibility. We made a full set of boxes because we couldn’t agree one particular solution and long work days means we are often eating more than one meal at work.
Design Goals
Ultimate Thermal Stability – Highly thermostable FDA certified silicone resin was selected for both the bottom chamber and lid to achieve the maximal temperature flexibility (-40 F-450F).
Healthy choice – Minimalist Design -Colorants were added to the lid but excluded from the bottom chamber to minimize additive chemistry contact with food and increase recyclability.
Durable, Structurally Re-enforced – The chambers of all of the lunchboxes are structurally re-enforced on top to provide a rigid surface for secure attachment of lids.
Leak-Free Quick-Release Lid – Patent pending Quick-Release Lid features internal sealing ribs that extend along the entire inner surface of each chamber to prevent leakage. The outer edges of the lid, wrap around the entire top of the bottom chambers adding additional security.
Collapsible – Storage and transport were one of the most important design features to address in the design phase. Gentle pressure flattens each lunchbox to roughly half of their extended height. Simple, Lightweight and FlexibleSimple, Lightweight and Flexible
Easy to Clean & Anti-Microbial
ZemePur™ Lunch Boxes are made from food grade silicone. Nothing sticks to silicone except for silicone. You don’t have to worry about soaking off week-old crusties. Silicone is also naturally antimicrobial. Feel free to clean in the dishwasher, but all you need is a good rinse in hot water.

Sustainable design is part of culture. For 6 years our team has been designing, manufacturing and distributing safe product alternatives. The ZemePur™ Lunchbox project allowed us to use our scientific knowledge to build a high quality product where consumer transparency is the focal point.

Eco-Labeling – ZemePur™ will be the FIRST silicone food product to feature customer focused life cycle impact data. Labeling will be directly printed on the re-usable bag or the QR code can be scanned with your smart phone to view more comprehensive details.
Take-back Progam – ZemePur™ lunchboxes have been designed for recovery and re-use in the silicone manufacturing process.
