A kimono “Yamagi” has appeared that can be worn for mountain climbing and active sports.
A half kimono and Gaiters hakama set are sold at the crowdfunding site Kickstarter until June 3rd.
What is YAMAGI?
“Kimono should be more active”
There are many casual kimonos and kimonos which can be dressed up, but there are no kimonos for active sports.
For example,
kimonos for riding a bicycle
kimonos for running
kimonos for mountain climbing
“Let’s make kimonos that can really climb the mountain using cutting-edge materials.”
We confirmed the performance that can cope with 3000 m class mountain climbing. Yamagi was born as an active sports kimono.
We tested the performance of Yamagi in the mountain of heavy rain after the typhoon. Over passing over fallen trees, rocks, chains, ladders .
The results obtained from those tests were reflected in the product, and they were actually made into kimono that can be used on the mountain.
Gaiters hakama can be worn when riding a road bike. You can wear it even in the narrow space inside the tent. It is a kimono of universal design that can be worn even by people who do not know how to wear hakama.
Let’s wear Yamagi and get more active!
Dot air half kimono
It is light, cool, wrinkle-resistant, and made of “dot air” material. You can wear it with a strap without obi, so you can carry a backpack and fasten your waist belt. The sleeves are tube sleeves that are thinner than kimonos. A half kimono has the function which can remove a wind from a cuff to the neck.
A tube sleeve was also used for the Japanese armor. It is said that the battle at that time was about 8 hours, it was very important that it was cool and not steamy.
So, it seems that a tube sleeve was adopted. A way of the sewing from neck to a shoulder is characteristic. The sewn part of the sleeve is in the middle of the upper arms and the structure does not interfere with the movable part of the shoulder joint.
Dot air Gaiters hakama.
It is light, cool, wrinkle-resistant, and made of “dot air” material. Anyone can wear it with adjustable buttons. A string is attached to the shin part of hakama. When wearing hakama, wrap a string around the shins.
By compressing the blood flow in the foot, the pump effect is enhanced to improve the motor function and reduce fatigue. The side of the hakama’s waist is functioning as a ventilation.
This form of hakama is very old, and it may be said that it is the result of pursuing the movement performance and comfort that are used for hunting and battle.
You can wear it without the waist straps so as not to interfere with the backpack’s waist belt or the climbing harness while maintaining the side ventilation.
Hakama’s structure is rich in fabric so it can be sensed through the fabric when something is touched.
