The newest and greatest comic book series to come out of Australia is the Xtreme Champion Tournament. Created and written by Melbourne locals Shaun Paulet and Brendan Halyday and they are backed up by the powerful pencils drawn by BOOM! Studios Jerry Gaylord. You may remember Jerry from his super successful run on Fanboys Vs. Zombies.
The XCT series has been quite successful since it was first successfully backed on Kickstarter back in March 2014. Now the trio are back at it again with issue #2 (the third in the series) on Kickstarter as we speak called XCT: Awaken the Baykok.
The XCT series is based in the year 2069, where secret archaeological digs, transpiring over the last 50 years is going to rock the foundation of what we all believe. The remains of heroes, villains, monsters and creatures, that we have long been believed to be myth or legend have been found. These remains have been used to create clones, which are caged, retrained and forced to fight in the most brutal sport in the world, the “Xtreme Champion Tournament”. XCT has become the most watched sport in history, and sees cloned fighters pitted against each other, as well as well-known mythical creatures, for entertainment purposes.

It’s amazing how these local Aussies were able to get support from so many of the Spartacus STARZ series cast.
