Professional security installers have approximately 25% market penetration of the estimated 118 million households in the US.

Of the households that polled that do not have an alarm system, roughly 43% believe that they’re unable to own a security system because it would violate the terms of their lease or jeopardize their security deposit.

Another 19% of those households do not have alarms indicate that the cost of an alarm system is prohibitive.

Over 26 million US households are condominiums and another 18.6 million apartments. Typically, those dwellings only have a single door that requires protection, which isn’t worth the expense and difficulty of installing a traditional security system.

Additionally, long term contracts or high installation costs, combined with high monthly monitoring charges, discourage most of these households from considering the benefits of professional call center monitored home security.

Xeebot is a home security system designed for people who live in condos, apartments, or dorm rooms, or for people who rent and don’t want to install something that could cause problems with their lease or security deposit.

The sensor uses Wi-Fi to connect to one of 7 professional monitoring call centers in the US and Canada. Xeebot will retail for $130 (or less) and monitoring will cost as little as $10 per month.

The Xeebot Home Security System Kickstarter Campaign runs untilĀ December 22nd, 2017.

Early US backers have the option to earn significant discounts with their pledge untilĀ December 4th. Additionally, there are several reward tiers that are available for pledges worldwide.

Roughly 2% of US households currently use DIY-installed security systems, a market segment expected to command over 30% of the US home security market by the year 2020. Since 2014, crowdfunded DIY security systems have raised in excess of 2.3 million in funding, proving the viability of the market segment.
