We are the young artist collective from Bosnia and Herzegovina formed in 2015. Our artwork is based on a specific technique of the concept street art, the wallcut as we call it. A synthesis of our initial commitments, but professions as well, where members are an architect (Muhamed Hamo Beslagic), a fine artist (Anel Lepic) and a street artist (Damir Sarac) led us to the creative vision of making a new and unique artistic expression. After working day and night and completing four large projects and exhibitions in 2015 (WALLS, Silence, Yesterday.Today!Tomorrow? and Cut in a Wall), people got interested in what we do worldwide. The story of HAD was born from the urge to make changes alone and as a collective, breaking the habits of everyday social struggle. HAD breaks the walls they are surrounded with, and the wallcut is the tool for breaking those walls and the individual demons. Our wallcut technique is based on cutting and demolition of wall surfaces, where the relations between the parts that remain and the removed parts create a relief surface of our artwork.
Our work is characterized by the fact that the wall becomes the canvas, the masonry tools become the paint brush, and the wall impregnation replaces the painting binder. While leaning on the traditional methods of relief and sgraffito fresco techniques, but also traditional graphic techniques we are going in a completely different direction thematically.
Revolutionary and selfless artistic expression, though distant from vandalism, possesses a dose of rage in itself, together with the need for stealth and a desire for change. We draw inspiration from the forgotten things, their silence, surrealism, past and melancholy, the time and place they live, turning them into representations of human figures and portraits.
Looking at the technical part of our artistic expression, we use all kinds of hard surfaces, mainly walls. We scratch, carve and engrave wall layers to achieve depth and create a form we tend to, a technique similar to woodcut and linocut. We use basic tools like hammers, chisels, knives, drills, etc. The walls which are as left behind by society and have lost their functionality as the people we put into these walls are two main points we pay our attention to.
Well, first of all we aim to spread the wallcut concept street art technique and make it available and visible to everyone. While we were creating our artworks, we were aware of the fact that you have to come to the place where it was made and see it. From the beginning, we thought what we do was different and innovative, so we wanted to show it to as much people as we can. At the opening of our first exhibition WALLS, despite the fact that the building was not safe, and there were big chances that you could get hurt, so many people came to see it that the place was crowded. That’s when we came to the idea of making it accessible to everyone.
We want to show our thoughts carved in the walls, driven mostly by what’s happening around everyone of us and about the things we constantly keep forgetting.
We want to present our artworks in galleries and museums as internationally as it’s possible and to achieve that we need your help.
