Waking Up in Idaho is an heartwarming PG family comedy about a Native America girl and her white foster brother trying to adjust to their new foster moms over the course of a weekend in the outdoors of Idaho . Written and directed by the award winning director Jon Lewis, the movie was filmed in late 2021. Editing has been completed we are raising funds to cover the costs of color correcting, audio mixing, musical score, and film festival entry fees. Reviewers have said the movie presents a realistic but also an attractive view of the foster experience as well as a heart warming and light film.
“Waking Up in Idaho” was shot in late 2021, with a local Idaho producer (Eve Bean-Allen), with Lewiston resident Dekin Carney in one of the lead roles, and Idaho residents Sheldon Allen, Andrew Koponen, Ranai Rauenzahn, Cheryl Bogle, and Debbie Chane in supporting roles. It also features the music of former Idaho father/son Christian music duo Chane and Zeb Mattoon, who play their music in a scene, as well as in the end credits. Numerous Idahoans participated in the crew as well. The movie, featured last fall on KLEW, and other investors have had glowing reviews about the film.
Investor Comments
“When I learned of the Indiegogo campaign, I didn’t hesitate for two reasons, in addition to Dekin being my nephew’s son. First, I love that your film’s focus is on foster children and Native Americans. Second, a family-friendly movie with that focus deserves every chance for success!”
“I would love for this movie to really take off!”
