My name is Qasim, I am a Pakistani American rock climber, artist, and an entrepreneur. I created Volo to fix the problem of bad pockets in athletic apparel. I personally traveled to Pakistan last year to hand pick every single aspect of our design and ethically manufacture our products from a family owned solar powered facility. Since being Pakistani and American, I used my language skills to develop close relationships with the people manufacturing our products. Our focus was to create an ethical athleisure brand with a focus on equality when it comes to pockets for men and women.
We have created three designs with our signature smart pockets. Two men’s shorts, Earth Shorts and Flight Shorts, and we have created a women specific model, the Terra Shorts. Each shorts comes with our smart pockets. Our smart pockets make it so that the pockets in our shorts don’t bounce, secure your valuables, and are roomy as heck. This means you will never loose your stuff, your stuff wont go up and down when you are running, and you will be able to fit everything you need.
Our fabrics and shorts are full of tech features: quick drying, 4 way stretch, peached finished, reinforced stitching, ultra durable, feather lite, and butter soft, making our shorts to be some of the best in the current competitive market. Each short is individually handcrafted and tailor made. The shorts come with a tailored fit and work great to go rock climbing, yoga, run or go on a night out with friends.
We are also launching our Volo Classic Tees as rewards during the campaign, the Volo Classic Tees are made with bamboo and sugarcane fibers. They are naturally odor resistant, quick drying, and super soft, also the bamboo fibers are naturally biodegradable.
I created Volo to create a solution for my personal problems of bad pockets and fancy athleisure ware. I am a trail runner and a rock climber by passion and I could never fit everything I needed on my runs in my pockets, plus I was super tired of loosing my stuff. Volo solves both of these functional problems. However, the harder problem to solve in the fashion industry is the ethical one.
Our manufacturer is a family owned factory that is is partially solar powered, we know our manufacturers on a first name basis. We create our products in small batches, with individual artisans. We even hand mix the paints that we use on our logos! Volo works with small businesses in Pakistan to source our fabrics and hardware. Your contribution to our brand directly helps the communities that we engage with during the building of our product.
Volo has been a 2 year journey that was finally coming to its fruition when COVID-19 pandemic hit. Despite the difficulty of the current situation we are moving forward and launching the brand on July 27th on Kickstarter. I hope you will follow us on our journey through these interesting times.
