Ahead of its series debut in July, VLN is soliciting 120 yet-to-launch crowdfunding campaigns globally to pitch their projects to a worldwide audience on its interactive crowdfunding-themed TV channel, CROWDPOWER TV, available on every screen.
May 18, 2015 – London, UK — Beginning in July, VIVE Lifestyle Network will introduce the crowdfunding cultural phenomenon on to an entirely new medium: television. The ‘alternative’ method for raising funds from peers – in exchange for rewards in some cases or equity in others – has become somewhat mainstream in recent years, albeit still within the confines of destination web platforms, such as Indiegogo and Kickstarter, and their respective apps. VIVE Lifestyle Network’s CROWDPOWER TV channel – not to be mistaken for an on-demand online video service – is slated to be a bona fide round-the-clock crowdfunding niche television channel chock-full of episodes of CROWDPOWER, a series showcasing current campaigns of all genres, as well as entrepreneurial-themed shows relevant to small business owners and start-ups.
A virtual venue for creators and prospective backers to convene and converse, CROWDPOWER TV will be the first true television channel devoted entirely to raising awareness of crowdfunding and enabling viewers to engage with campaign creators. Facilitated by cutting edge interactive in-screen technology, prospective backers may opt to participate in live Q & A sessions and even make contributions to donation- and reward-based projects right from within their device of choice. The CROWDPOWER series will profile projects in ten categories including arts/dance/theatre, charity, fashion & beauty, film & television, food & drink, green initiatives, health & fitness, music, small business, and technology. Unprecedentedly, in an effort to promote fair play, CROWDPOWER features up to 120 projects – 12 per category per month – concurrently to level the playing field and offer equal, uncluttered exposure to each of the campaigns.
People from all over the world will be able to tune in to CROWDPOWER TV free of charge through the VIVE lifestyle network suite of apps available on virtually any device from Samsung UHD TVs to Chromecast to PlayStation and even cable boxes, consequently massively elevating the profiles of featured campaigns. The network has opened its call for entries to the CROWDPOWER series for its July premier and welcomes campaigns from any country powered by any vetted third-party crowdfunding platform to book an appearance for July or beyond. As spaces are limited, bookings are allocated on a first come, first served basis. Bookings may be made online here.
CROWDPOWER TV shows will be filmed at Celebro Studios, a state-of-the-art 4K television studio in Central London, and soon VIVE Lifestyle Network will announce a second Los Angeles-based studio.
Ultimately, CROWDPOWER will offer its own crowdfunding platform as a courtesy but shall maintain its third-party platform neutrality for campaigns appearing on the television series. Meanwhile, product and service promotion – by way of product placement and relevant interactive advertising – and subsequently monetisation are some other unique perks that will be afforded to campaigns that appear on CROWDPOWER TV. This is not coincidental, however, as VIVE Lifestyle Network principals perceive CROWDPOWER as analogous to the yin yang philosophy – crowdfunding to realise a goal should be complemented by the means to promote and sell or propagate said realisation so the process can repeat itself.
The objective behind CROWDPOWER TV is to offer crowdfunding project creators the opportunity to catapult their campaigns to celebrity status by lifting them above the competition and differentiating them in an impactful way. “The idea was actually born two years ago, but audience reach was an issue. Without an audience, what good is any content, much less compelling, original content? Creating content is the fun and ‘easy’ aspect of establishing a network – we certainly don’t lack in the content department. The challenge was getting it seen,” says Danielle Jacaman, Communications Director of VIVE Lifestyle Network. “Thus, VIVE Lifestyle Network has agreements with various distribution platforms, including, but not limited to Samsung, as well as cable operators throughout Europe and North America, among others. We finally have the infrastructure to justify the vision. It has been a long time in the making, and we are excited to showcase crowdfunders in a compelling and innovative fashion.”
