Romance visual novel Mystic Destinies: Serendipity of Aeons is currently funding on Kickstarter. Despite being funded, the urban fantasy otome game has undergone a large art re-design to improve character visuals. The Art Director has provided an updated concept of the first character to be released. She states that she was unsatisfied with the previous version despite the positive feedback the art received and started over from scratch. Below is a rough concept of the direction the art is taking.
The new art style appearsĀ to take some inspiration from the semi-realistic Final Fantasy designs of Tetsuya Nomura. Nomura’s designs tend to incorporate traditional anime styles with realistic graphics, which mesh well with the artist’s personal style and the Japanese-inspired nature of the visual novel.
Mystic Destinies: Serendipity of Aeons is winding down into its last days, but Star Maiden Games is still attempting to reach their stretch goals. Their stretch goals include improved art and more CG images, a visually customizable main character and set personalities for the protagonist. The developer also added new rewards since the Kickstarter began and have also released an alpha demo. Serendipity of Aeons is also available on Steam Greenlight for voting.
