The aim of this crowdfunding page is too seek the support of the public to help towards the funding that wee need to open our dream – Umbrella.

Umbrella will be an LGBTQ+ bar and nightclub in Huddersfield town centre. Huddersfield currently has an array of bars, but few nightclubs and unfortunately there are currently no LGBTQ+ bars or safe spaces of any kind in the town and so our goal is to provide this and create more visibility and representation for the LGBTQ+ community within Huddersfield. We believe this has the potential to be hugely popular as there is a large LGBTQ+ community in Huddersfield and with the success of the recent HUDPRIDE, we feel like now is the right time for this development.

We hope that with this bar we can reach out to the local community and encourage them to integrate and make links with the student community of Huddersfield. We also want to provide a safe and welcoming place for people of all backgrounds, genders, sexualities etc, everyone will be welcome in Umbrella.

We have found a property which was previously set up as a bar and would be perfect for our business and are currently in contact with the landlord. We will also be reaching out to the LGBTQ+ society of Huddersfield University as well as the Students Union as we hope we can build some bridges and possibly even host some events.

We would have an array of themed nights including quizzes, karaoke, drag, bingo and some more fresh ideas which are perhaps new to the town.

We will also sell a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic refreshments including specialty cocktails, craft beers and ales, ciders, wines and spirits as well as a selection of hot drinks. We also plan to sell food and other beverages. We will include great prices as well as deals and offers that will be very enticing to the community.

There is a huge gap in the market for our business in Huddersfield, there is very little representation for the LGBTQ+ community in the town and that is ultimately why we want to do this and why we would be a huge success. There are few nightclubs in the town, but with the huge student population we feel, as former students ourselves, that the town would benefit from more variety in terms of nightlife and we hope to be able to work closely with other bars and clubs in the area to work as neighbours and friends.

We are really passionate about this venture, all we need is your support, of everyone was to donate just a couple of pounds we can get this up and running and hopefully open to the public in September!
