ETHS Senior and varsity goalkeeper, Olivia Post is on a mission to put soccer balls at the feet of deserving boys and girls. Unlike most kids her age who spend their summer at the beach or at camp, Olivia was in the mountains of Panajachel, Guatemala teaching and training 60 boys and girls in the art of soccer. The year prior to her trip, Olivia gathered over 600 pieces of gently used gear donated by The Chicago Fire, Evanston Township High School, Glenbrook South High School, Sockers FC, Team Evanston, friends and teammates.
“The soccer gear was great to hand out, but I learned what the kids and coaches needed more than gear, was good soccer balls,” stated Post. Thanks to Camp Shutout and Wisconsin Men’s Soccer Coach Stan Anderson, Olivia had brought 40 balls with her, but she came back from Guatemala with a mission; to make a match quality hand sewn soccer ball that is affordable, so when one is bought, one can be donated. “I created oNe Soccer Ball and launched a kickstarter campaign. Buy oNe, Give oNe, to raise funds to get the first production order done and the independent lab testing so the ball can be certified for high school soccer play,” continued Post.
