Two Foxes in the City is a cute game for a playful city discovery by two people, with a focus on memorable experiences. Alternatingly you draw from a set of cards with prompts for small activities or questions. Some of these will lead you to paths unknown, others will encourage bonding with your partner. Some of them are followed as a team, some of them are secret solo missions. All of them are light-hearted to allow for joyful memories!
Creator Roland Auer, who has been a UX Designer for 13 years and is shifting to a therapist profession now, states: “Covid lockdowns have certainly had their impact on mental health. I notice it with friends. I notice it for myself. And while I’ve started to appreciate the quiet times, I need to nudge myself more often to go out and experience friendship in more public areas. This game was designed to encourage people having fun outside. You’ll discover new facets both in the city of your choice and in the partner you play with.”
All activities are G rated, safe to play with anyone including children. It’s up to you if you want to play them with a friend, family member or a date. Prompts and foxes are gender-neutral to be as inclusive as possible.
Many of the playtests have been done in cities like Heidelberg, Colmar or Sacramento, all featuring rich heritage to enjoy. But the game will take you to roads less travelled and can be played in any city of the world.
Two Foxes in the City will be available on Kickstarter, launching mid November and running for three weeks. True to the spirit of the game, the campaign is meant to maximize fun, not money. You can pay what you want for the files, which are delivered as PDFs in multiple languages. It even comes with a fox-adorned tuckbox for self-assembly and will be ready for Christmas. So if you’re still looking for an experience to gift, this may very well be it.
