Los Angeles, CA – Last week, Twisted Kicks, a game studio formed in Los Angeles, launched a Kickstarter campaign for “Twisted Kicks”, a cross platform party game and mobile application.

The party game mixes elements of the card game, Taboo, with a more mature and relevant pop culture theme. The game splits players into two teams. During a player’s turn, the player attempts to describe the “twisted word” on their card without saying any of the restricted words.

However, every player must draw a “rule card” at the beginning of their turn. The rule card adds an additional gameplay element to their turn, which can help or hurt their ability to score cards for their team. “We wanted to create a game that would be fun to play in both casual and party settings”, said co-founder Kunal Patel.

“The great thing about this game is that it is shaped by the community”, said co-founder Akshat Keshan.

Future expansions will include submissions from the community of players on the mobile application and Twisted Kicks website. Chosen submissions will be determined by a Reddit-style up/down voting system.

After creating prototypes with various manufacturers, Twisted Kicks brought their funding campaign to Kickstarter to give supporters exclusive rewards.

Backers of Twisted Kicks can choose from rewards including discounted versions of the retail game and the opportunity to develop their own cards with the Twisted Kicks team.

“Twisted Kicks is about having an exciting one minute turn and helping your team win. It is a really funny and great way to be entertained,” says Patel. “The game does not drag on forever like other party games, so we really expect players to be actively engaged while playing”.

The project has a 30-day funding goal of $4,000, which expires on November 19. For more information, check out the Kickstarter campaign and Twisted Kicks website.
