New York, NY – February 18th, 2014, Nuchallenger is a game developer based in New York City. Their current project, Treachery in Beatdown City is an all new type of game, working with older genres to create an all new idea and is currently on Kickstarter.

Deadline – March 15th, 2014
Goal Amount – $50,000
Reason – To develop the entire project for PC/MAC and deliver the game to backers

Treachery in Beatdown City features a mixture of side scrolling brawler gameplay and tactics/RPG elements. These are reminiscent of old school beat ’em ups, but with a twist. Move around an overworld and switch between our 3 diverse player characters with a single button. Lisa Santiago, the MMA/Boxing fighter with a mix of strong kicks/punches and grabs is our first character. The second is Bruce Maxwell, the Capoeira/Jeet Kune Do expert who primarily uses acrobatic attacks and switch ups. Finally is Brad Steele, the heavyweight wrestler packing loads of strong strikes and over the top wrestling throws. These all come together to make the first ever tactical indie brawler.

While looking around the overworld players can find items, talk to people who will give you hints, and get into fights. The streets of East Fulton are littered with dozens of different enemies, all with unique attack styles and moves.

When in fights, move around with full real time freedom. When close to the enemy, pull up the COMBO menu and pick up to 3 attacks at any time. These can be strikes, grapples and even preset combos to create a large variety of attack types. Throw a Jab and then grab your opponent and hit them with an MMA Clinch Punch. Do a three jab combo, into a gut punch into a brutal uppercut, knocking them back. Or even a heel punch combo, into a grab, into an explosive suplex, leaving your opponent on the ground. You can also jam on a button for real time attacks, but they are best saved for breaking objects to find items.

Enemies can also strike back, and do so by stopping players in their tracks. Make sure to use healing items, face your opponents, and use your defense options to avoid getting on the wrong side of a beatdown yourself.

The story will eventually leave the city of East Fulton and end up in other distant areas, like the desert. The chase to find the president, who has been kidnapped by Ninja Dragon Terrorists, is an a over the top, humorous story rooted in classic 80s/90s action tropes but infused with real world modern politics. The story is told in cutscene frames with a variety of different conversations. These set up all of the characters as well as creates relationships between you and the enemies you face.

Currently Treachery in Beatdown City is on Kickstarter and needs your help to rid the world of the Ninja Dragon Terrorist threat!
