Logline: A neurosurgeon consoles her student, as he grieves over a patient he failed to save.
The Project: Time of Death will be a short film that deals with the heartache and personal relationships between surgeons, who dedicate their lives to saving the lives of others. Not only will this film present a dramatic story between mentor and student, but it will also encompass the diligence that medical personnel provide to their careers.
What it means: “To me, Time of Death represents the tendency we have as humans to blame ourselves for things out of our control and the fear of disappointing the ones we love. In the story Jeanine helps Paul realize that the death of his patient is not his fault. She helps revive his wavering surgical ego and accept that there was nothing more he could’ve done to save his patient. In life, accidents happen and sometimes there isn’t one solid answer that explains why. Time of Death shows us that sometimes things happen that we can’t explain. And that sometimes, not having an explanation is okay.” – Brooke, Writer
A note from the Director:
“My name is Bryson and I am currently in the pre-production process for my Senior Capstone project at The Savannah College of Art and Design. This is the final, big project that I get to create before I graduate. During my time at SCAD, I’ve been able to direct and produce two sitcom series, short films, and a television pilot episode for a crime-drama, and various media projects along the way. One of those sitcoms, “The Buzz,” won a College Emmy Award on the national level.
My Senior Capstone Project is my last opportunity to show off what I am capable of as a filmmaker before needing to work professionally in the industry. The title of my film is “Time of Death.” It is about a neurosurgeon who consoles her student as he grieves over a patient he failed to save. The film will present a dramatic story between mentor and student, and will also encompass the diligence that medical personnel provide to their careers.
I hope that you feel called to make a contribution. Even a small donation can help so much and would be very appreciated. Thank you so much!” -Bryson, Director & Producer
