The Fable of the Flying Friends Book Project is coming to Kickstarter
This unique children’s picture book will also feature a companion activity guide featuring fun, age-appropriate educational activities.
Annapolis, Maryland – July 10, 2013 – Author and illustrator D’Andrea Martin will launch a Kickstarter campaign later this summer to produce her illustrated children’s picture book project – The Fable of the Flying Friends (www.FlyingFriendsBook.com). This unique children’s picture book tells the heartwarming tale of the unlikely friendship between an adventurous leaf and a loyal butterfly, and their dream of flying together.
The Fable of the Flying Friends tells a story with meaningful messages dealing with patience, friendship, trust, and loyalty, while gently addressing loss. This full-color picture book will become a favorite for baby and toddlers at bedtime, as well as the perfect quiet-time reading book for older, elementary school age children. The full color picture book features bright, bold, and funny illustrations, with a whimsical storyline. Although this picture book is a work of fiction, the companion resource guide for teachers, parents, or caregivers, will include fun, age-appropriate reproducible art and educational activities – suitable for home, classroom, or homeschool environments. These fun and educational activities include puzzles, games, coloring pages, vocabulary, butterfly anatomy, arts and crafts, photosynthesis, the life cycle of a butterfly, butterfly migration, word scrambles, basic math skills, coloring puzzles, and image search pages.
About ‘The Fable of the Flying Friends’ Book Project
The Fable of the Flying Friends picture book and companion activity guide will be funded through Kickstarter – a crowdfunding platform for creative projects. Backers will have the opportunity to pledge their support at various reward levels. D’Andrea Martin will offer her backers several exclusive rewards, for example, a select number of backers will have their child’s face and name, illustrated and printed on a feature page in the actual printed picture books.
The Kickstarter funding will allow for the completion, layout, and formatting of the final artwork and text, the creation of the bound companion resource guide, and the first round of quality printing for both books. “I am so excited for the opportunity Kickstarter will give me to introduce these wonderful books to the public,” said Martin. “The beauty of Kickstarter’s platform is that it can also propel this project beyond printed books by surpassing ‘stretch goals’ – set funding milestones above the original funding goal. For example, the ultimate stretch goal for The Fable of the Flying Friends is to also create an interactive storybook app for mobile devices.”
The official Kickstarter campaign page link will be released soon, but for now, interested parties can join ‘The Flying Friends’ email list on the website (www.FlyingFriendsBook.com), to receive updates on the project’s progress, the exact launch date, and a sneak peek of some of the other exclusive Kickstarter rewards that will be available at launch.
