San Diego, CA – July 15, 2013 – Brewing in San Diego has become a serious business. As the beer scene has exploded so too has the homebrewing scene, not just in San Diego but throughout the country. Within the past month homebrewing has finally been legalized in all 50 states. As homebrewing has taken off in popularity, the tools behind it have remained, surprisingly, low tech.
Most homebrewers are still using glass hydrometers and thermometers invented hundreds of years ago. They are still leaving their beer out in the elements to ferment despite the fact that controlling the fermentation temperature has been proven to be a major factor in the final product.
Inebriated Innovations looks to bring homebrewing into the Internet age with the BrewBit family of connected brewing products. The first product in the BrewBit lineup is the Model-T – a WiFi enabled temperature controller and logger that gives the brewer insight into the brewing process like never before.
The Model-T allows anyone to easily control the temperature of their beer throughout the entire brewing process from mashing to fermentation and lagering. From brewbit.com the brewer can monitor the temperatures in real-time and even make adjustments if necessary. For the more hands-off brewer, the Model-T supports dynamic temperature profiles which will automatically vary the temperature over time in order to perform complicated step mashes or fermentation cycles.
Some of the other features of the Model-T include:
- Dual, independent AC power outputs
- Dual, independent temperature probes
- Sleek, intuitive touch screen user interface
- A probe can control an output or passively log data to the web
- Expansion slot for integration with future BrewBit products
- Wireless software upgrades
- Open Source Hardware and Software
Currently in development – the Model-S will supplement the BrewBit ecosystem with automated, wireless specific gravity sensing. The difficulty of Specific Gravity measurement during the fermentation cycle leads many brewers to play a guessing game as to when their fermentations are complete.
Inebriated Innovations is currently seeking $80,000 in funding for the BrewBit Model-T on Kickstarter. In the first day, the project has earned 15% of the goal.
