May 18, 2020, São Paulo, Brazil — Launching on StartSomeGood, Travel to Brazil: The Cookbook – A local travel agency brings communities in Brazil to the forefront with their stories and traditional recipes to offer visibility in the midst of the Covid-19 Pandemic and halt in tourism.
Viare Travel is a small Brazilian incoming agency, which, as a way to continue to connect those interested in travel to Brazil, and a means to create alternative income, with the stall in tourism, has created a book project, and now has an active crowdfunding campaign on StartSomeGood.com.
The book will include recipes from the agency’s local provider’s around the country – food tour and culinary workshop providers, hotel restaurant chefs, and community based hosts – as well as these peoples’ stories, and the stories behind the recipes and ingredients. It will be published in English, and recipes are going to be tested around the world, to make sure they work for an international audience.
Those who love culture, travel and cooking will enjoy this book. It will offer insight into Brazilian culture, pique readers’ interests in traveling to Brazil by highlighting those who welcome travelers in the country, as well as offer practical recipes for a range of diets.
“I feel cooking becomes even more special when you understand the story behind the dish. And so, as a supplement to trips we sell through our agency, the idea for creating a cookbook highlighting all of these aspects of food culture in Brazil, has always been in the back of my mind. To send clients recipes so they can recreate what they experienced on their travels throughout Brazil.” – Polyana de Oliveira – Owner and Director at Viare Travel
Viare Travel needs to raise at least $8,000 for the production of at least 200 copies of a beautiful, hardcover book, with about 50 recipes. This goal will cover production costs which will include bringing her staff back to work. Funds will go towards collecting and translating recipes, sending recipes for testing internationally, covering costs associated with testing, printing, packaging, shipping, a professional book designer, and photographer. If this goal is surpassed, the agency will be able to offer financial contributions to organizations involved in food tourism in Brazil.
The company is guaranteeing a December delivery, just in time for gift giving during the holidays. Perks on the crowdfunding site, besides the print copy of the book itself, includes an online version of the book, a starter kit with non-perishable products and utensils from Brazil, and exclusive videos.
The crowdfunding campaign runs until June 12th, 2020, and donations with perks start at US$10.00. The average contribution is US$50.00, and includes an ebook and hardcover copy of the book (for US addresses, shipping is also included).
