New York, NY – Ethan Minsker is currently running a Hatchfund campaign to raise funds for “Dwelling”, an art exhibition in Sydney Australia taking place from October 26th to November 11th 2015. Curated by New York, New York-based artist/filmmaker Ethan Minsker, the “Dwelling” project features the work of Simon Harsent, Juliet Taylor, and many more.
“Artists from around the globe and locally are being asked to build miniature structures out of recycled material that will be arranged like a city landscape,” the creator says, “At the end of the show it will be destroyed as part of a performance art. These works are representative of the social interactions amongst community members, and reflections of their homes and the loss of those homes.”
During the exhibition the Citizens for the Arts team plans to host several events. The primary focus of these projects is to enable learning opportunities, job opportunities, teaching and leadership skills, growth and support in other artistic ventures. In addition to the main show, “Dwelling”, there will be a film screening of their past projects, workshops (how to make a fanzine, working with textile design and various other themes), writer’s night and portfolio review.
“This will be the fourth overseas art project and film that the Antagonists and I have created in the last 8 years. From New York, Germany, Portugal, and Ecuador we have continued to work with the artists we met on these projects,” Minsker explains, “And we couldn’t have done any of them without help from our supporters. We try to provide venues for artists, mentoring, job placement, and exposure, and we hope—with your help—we can do it again.”
In exchange for pledging to the project, backers can gain access to a variety of limited rewards including books or signed DVDs for $25 or more, a signed poster for $60, shirts, original art, credit as a supporter in the next film, and more!
