BlossomZone, the crowdfunding platform for East Anglia, has added a new campaign to raise money for a Tolkein-inspired holiday dwelling to be built in rural Suffolk.
The campaign owner, Jan Lengyel of West Stow Pods, is looking to raise £25,000 by the end of April to build a submerged house which will be a holiday destination.
West Stow pods which is based near to Bury St Edmunds intends to build an underground dwelling inspired by our Anglo-Saxon ancestors. The Poddit Hole halfling house will be a simple yet comfortable place where exciting adventures are likely to start. Podditon is the name given to this group of holiday homes because the ‘pods’ form a small village or homestead (-ton in Old English), hence Podditon.
The project will be a sustainable development. The house will be a showpiece of modern, low-impact environmental building techniques and materials whilst employing the latest technology in low carbon power generation to supply under floor heating and domestic hot water.
The intention is to create a holiday destination for people who want to engage with activities which will involve an overnight stay in the Poddit Hole but could also include a guided tour of the nearby Anglo-Saxon Village and other activities to form part of your very own exciting adventure.
Supporters of the campaign can choose from a variety of rewards including the chance to become one of the first people to stay a night in the house.
