Taipei City, Taiwan – On July 1 2015, D.LINK STUDIO LLC launched a Kickstarter campaign for Space Roller, a uniquely designed dice that is dedicated to tabletop game lovers, dice collectors and toy maniacs who love futuristic design.
“We are all about seeing things in different perspectives and bringing the unique sublime experiences through creative design from architecture, interior to products in our everyday life,” the creator says about the company’s initiative. With Space Roller they wanted to create, “The perfect dice that cultivates your mood for futuristic RPG games like Dreadball, Star Trek or just simply roll it for fun!”
Space Roller is a standard 16 mm dice with chamfered corners which gives Space Roller a bit more momentum when you roll it. Space Roller is made by injecting glowing resin with different colors of finishes to obtain the futuristic and cyber feeling. For this campaign the glowing colors available are neon blue, neon green and neon orange, while finishes are offered in white, black and bronze. If the campaign reaches its $55K stretch goal backers will unlock a metallic gray finish.
“In the past ten years, I have not bought a single die that was not made of metal or precious stone, nor from any source other than Crystal Caste,” said one backer, Bern Buechler, “I say this not so much as to brag about my dice, but to comment about how amazing these dice appear to be. Sure, I’m nobody from nowhere, but these dice inspired me to open up my wallet to something new. I am incredibly excited for these, and sincerely hope we reach all of the stretch goals, and then some.”
In exchange for pledging to the project, backers can gain access to a variety of rewards including one set of two Space Rollers for $13, two sets for $23, three sets for $31, and more! Backers can also pledge $87 to receive ten sets of Space Rollers!
“I’m not sure if it’s the colors, the configurations of the dice or both, but these Tron-esque looking dice have my attention,” Beasts of War said in a feature on the Space Roller project, “They have taken your standard D6 to the next level by giving you something really interesting to look at that still conveys the normal sides of the dice nicely.”
