Cedarburg, WI (June 20, 2014) – SmartHunt™ announces its Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign for SmartDecoy™, which could be the first of many smartphone-controlled hunting tools. SmartHunt is an emerging brand of wireless, smartphone-controlled products that seamlessly integrates with a user’s hunting equipment for a better hunting experience. Bill Steinike, president of wireless technology development firm LSR and creator of the SmartHunt line, has launched his first project, SmartDecoy, on the internet crowdfunding site Kickstarter this week in hopes of funding the commercialization of these products.
SmartDecoy is a wireless remote control system for motorized duck decoys, more commonly known as “robo ducks.” Duck hunters often use such decoys, which mimic the ducks’ appearance and motion, to attract ducks to land nearby. These decoys are often an invaluable asset to the duck hunter’s arsenal.
SmartDecoy offers the unique feature of complete smartphone control. Users can customize unique motion patterns (or, “macros”) for multiple decoys at once in order to make their decoys’ motion appear more lifelike. The SmartDecoy wireless module plugs into users’ existing robo ducks and connects to the app automatically through Bluetooth® Smart technology. It also offers users the benefit of a battery meter and complete unified control of an entire spread of decoys. No more losing, forgetting, or breaking multiple keychain remote fobs.
Steinike hopes that Kickstarter’s crowdfunding capabilities will raise enough funds to bring SmartDecoy to market in time for this year’s hunting season. “The benefit of the SmartDecoy is that it allows for more realistic motion patterns while providing wireless convenience and ease-of-use for hunters,” says Steinike. “Other decoy remote fobs are often lost, broken, or forgotten, but a hunter never forgets to bring his smartphone. The wireless experts we have here at LSR have developed the SmartDecoy prototype, now we are looking to crowd-sourcing for the capital to take the final steps to full production.”
Steinike hopes to raise a total of $55,000 for this campaign by August 16. Hunters interested in purchasing Steinike’s product can contribute to the Kickstarter campaign via this link. Early backers can receive their very own SmartDecoy for a pledge as low as $20.
