Taipei City, Taiwan – On September 13 2015, The Sliders launched a Kickstarter campaign for a new folding skate bike that combines the concepts of a kick scooter and folding bicycle to inspire a ride uniquely suited to the stop-and-go’s of urban environments.
“The essence of The Sliders is mobility, style, and convenience. Its open frame is specially designed to accommodate dresses and skirts,” the team explains, “It can be smoothly mounted and dismounted, kicked or pedaled. When not riding, it can be quickly folded up for easy transport or tucked away for storage.”
Sliders were designed specifically with women’s needs in mind. It all started because the founder’s girlfriend couldn’t jump on a normal 26″ bike easily, and she wanted to ride it with skirts or suits. With that inspiration, the team decided to devote their time to developing a better ergonomic design. The result is not only a less restrictive framework but Sliders also allows riders to seamlessly transition between kicking, cycling, and gliding.
If you want a pace faster than walking, yet more leisurely than a bicycle, Sliders are the best option. As you slide around in fashion, you stand at ease while taking in your surroundings. Folding your Slider takes just one quick click to pull open two hinges and it’s ready to be compacted and easily grasped. To open, simply hold onto the grip and slide. The folding process can reduce the storage volume by half so you can easily take it on the train, in a taxi, or into the office.
“Sliders have gone through four years of development with hundreds of drawing modifications, and no less than five generations of prototypes before we were satisfied in offering you this product,” says the creator, “We broke through the manufacturing process to create these beautiful folding bicycles. We insist on aligning ten times before delivering. We partnered with Taiwanese craftsman with 40 years’ experience in order to find the most suitable materials to complete a stylish, high quality bike.”
