Are you over being single? Are you over your single friends complaining about the pains of dating? Do you want to delete your Facebook and Instagram because you can’t stand seeing one more “so in love” couple selfie? Well, we have the answer to your problems! Ok just kidding, no we don’t, but we have something to make you laugh at all of this! Trust me, “Single Shelley” probably has it worse than you, or has already dated you. It’s a web series that I’ve written, produced and am starring in (with a team of four other writers and producers).

It’s a comedy about the absurd dating life of a sweet, quirky, not so innocent 25 year old living in Los Angeles. This concept is based on my own dating experiences in L.A. as well as all the crazy dating stories my friends tell me. It’s amazing when I start talking to people about the series, they just offer up stories for me to use; and don’t worry kids, I’m writing this stuff down. This series has something everyone can relate to, and is not afraid to push the envelope. Think of a raunchier “New Girl” meets “Friends” with a dash of Amy Schumer.

Just like many creative, ramen noodle diet artists, we managed to scrape up the money to shoot a pilot episode and release it on YouTube. Instead of simply telling you about “Single Shelley” we wanted to share a taste of the season to come, and as we have several seasons worth of material already written, locations scouted, cast and crew locked, we cannot wait to bring you more!

We are over halfway through our 30-day Kickstarter to raise $7,500 in order to complete the first season. For as little as the price of your morning coffee, you can help us achieve our goal. We offer great rewards for each donation from a signed cast photo, to a car wash, to a date with a cast member, to I will tattoo your initials on me. Yes, that’s correct. Read over the rewards and I guarantee you will laugh.

The reason we’re asking for $7,500 is because that will cover film equipment, food, transportation, wardrobe, props, permits, locations fees, post production costs, expenses for our crew, and of course, unforeseen costs. In the industry, anything can happen. Plus, Kickstarter takes out 5%, and Amazon takes out another 3%-5%, so we won’t even see all that money. Since Kickstarter is an all or nothing deal, we don’t get anything unless we reach our goal by June 19th!

We are doing our best to reach our goal and make our fans happy when they contribute. Every dollar helps and we are so grateful. If you live in the L.A. area, we are organizing a fundraiser on Sunday, June 16th, 8pm at Busby’s East. Come out to see a night of comedians, music, drinks, beer pong and our friends! It’s a $10 cover that goes directly to our Kickstarter. If you’ve already donated, there is no cover, and we love you.

My writers and I are so passionate about this project. We want to make people laugh and put something out in the world that so many can relate to! This is an incredibly fun and worthwhile project for us that will be released online for everyone to see when it’s completed. Please take a few minutes to visit our Kickstarter page.
