The Story:
21 year old Zoe, recounts her interview for an R&D company, Rocksteady. She is telling this to her boyfriend Neo as an explanation for why they should break up as the company peaks her interest when they show an explain the progress they have made to a functioning simulation pioneered by their head scientist Dr. Vin Netty.
While Dr. Netty has successfully entered the simulation, she is unable to escape it, likely forever. Zoe is tasked to continue where Dr. Netty left off, instead Zoe is furious at Dr. Netty for rushing her trial and promises to instead start over the entire procedure on her own. When this brings her into trouble from Rocksteady for tardy reports and a suspicion of manslaughter, Zoe turns the incident around explaining she has managed to manipulate the simulation from her lab, and just needs another week to build her prototype.
She gets the week only to find that Rocksteady is planning to shut the program regardless after heavy scrutiny and possible legal action over their project. They bring in a scientist, Mr. Sheldon, Dr. Netty’s #2 to analyze Zoe’s work and he determines it is still far too primitive to test on humans as Zoe even concludes human trial is the only possible experiment to conduct. That night Zoe, confident in her work, submits herself to the simulation and finds within it the bold face lie she was first given.
The simulation was always a trap and now she has fallen into it rather than master it. Dr. Netty appears and marks Zoe, tasking her to bring more people back into the trap. Zoe fights back, returning Dr. Netty back into the real world, but when questioned as to whether she would continue with returning to the simulation, Zoe gladly acknowledges that she will. www.kickstarter.com
