Short Film on Kickstarter Launched by new film company created by Vancouver Film School grads.

Vancouver, B.C a city filled with way too many actors, so what do six young film school graduates do when they finish school? Create their very own comedy based short film company.

“Why wait around for someone to give you the right role when you can write one for yourself?” That’s the concept behind In The Gutter Films says creator Riley Rheyan.

‘Interview with a Reaper’ was launched this week on Kickstarter, a comedic short film that tells the story of a down-on-his-luck Reaper who only ever wanted to be a comedian. The story is told in mock e-true Hollywood style and outlines the life and past of main character Glum and his angelic girlfriend, Charmeine.

The story was conceived and created by In The Gutter Films writer Riley Rheyan, other members are Sarah Kresak, Katrine Prud’Homme, Brandon Jason Miller, Brian Cyburt and Joey Coleman. All graduates of Vancouver Film School’s full time acting program, they serve as actors, writers and directors within the group, many members filling more than one role.

The film will be entirely financed by crowd-funding support through the web site Kickstarter, which allows “friends, fans and inspired strangers” to pledge money to projects that they’re interested in.

“This film project wouldn’t be possible without Kickstarter. It lets others be a part of creating a film and it lets us showcase our talent as a new Short Film Company based in Vancouver.” says Rheyan

Sarah Kresak will be playing the lead female role as the reaper’s girlfriend, an angel, Gutter members will be seen throughout this film and others. In The Gutter is not a closed group and have worked with actors such as Josh Ssetubba (CW’s The 100), and Breann Grainger (Supernatural, Untold Stories of the ER), in a previous film Starving Student.

The 3500 dollars the project is raising will be used to give high production value to what would otherwise be a low-budget film. The goal with In The Gutter is to one day be able to provide other recent grads or film artists starting out, a place to bring their work to turn into skits or shorts, especially for those who don’t own equipment or know where to start making a film.

“We want to create a place where writers, actors, directors fresh from school can create amazing films without having to spend tons of money they don’t have on buying or renting equipment. We want to be the place they can go to, to start their careers.”

Donations can be made at the groups Kickstarter page: www.kickstarter.com

Supporters of the project can give the amount that works for them, and receive exciting rewards in return. The Kickstarter campaign lasts until August 16th.
