My upcoming solo exhibition is scheduled for July 2014 at White Walls and Shooting Gallery in San Francisco. This will be my second solo exhibition with White Walls. Last year’s show entitled, “Cellar Door” received warm reviews and recognition from press outlets such as Free People online, Refinery29, Live Fast Magazine and 7×7 Magazine to name a handful. As I finalize my ideas for this upcoming exhibition, I work with a strong desire to progress forward and upward with my art and concepts. Overall, my goal for the upcoming exhibition is to deliver to my audience (and hopefully new fans!) the same caliber of work and concept as they are used to seeing from me.  The campaign can be viewed here

ABOUT MY WORK: I am a multi-disciplined artist working in a variety of materials. I enjoy combining materials in unexpected ways – various metals, paper, neon, wood and organic mediums come together to form a story. Through my work, I discuss a universal connection between everything and everyone on this planet as it relates to the universe outside of our world – it’s all about the cosmos!

I pay close attention to the elements of my materials. For example, my work in paper consists of the element carbon; steel is iron and all of my neon signs use the noble gases. I attempt to highlight this strict choice of materials and show a chronological story from the birthplace of these elements (the sun and the universe) to their experience here on earth and in my hands.

MY PROJECT: “The Golden Hour” is an exhibition entirely dedicated to the elemental life force and power of the sun (or all suns). More specifically, how suns creates light, life and almost everything in the universe. This show will be my homage to a mother sun creating my own spirituality from this idea. Most of my neon tubing will be filled with Helium (He pictured above) which is the second most abundant element in the Universe and the first element created by atomic fusion within a star (Hydrogen fuses to create Helium). Coincidentally, the color of helium in a neon tube is a warm peach color similar to the shine of most stars. From Helium, a long list of elements are created by the same process, eventually producing heavier elements that we are very familiar with such as iron, carbon, oxygen. In my works, I am using iron in steel frames for panels, carbon in deer hide and wood frames and oxygen with a panel of live plants (specifically cactus for conceptual reasons). I will also be creating three more Periodic Elements in neon: Gold (Au), Silver (Ag) and Copper (Cu). These three precious metals are elements that are ONLY created during supernovae explosions (when a star dies and explodes). This is why we call them precious metals. Some other things viewers can expect to see:

Three stretched deer hide works featuring Rorschachs (inkblots) and neon tubing
Two 3’x6′ panels – one filled with pyrite (fools gold) and neon tubing, the other a live succulent panel combined with neon
A neon “bridge”. 30 straight tubes of neon in a color progression that represents the sunset. The tubes will span overhead, horizontally, across the width of the hallway and run the entire length leading into the exhibition room.

My funding is strictly going towards my materials:

Glass & Electrodes
Steel
Wood
My live plants for panel
Power sources
Hardware
Gas for filling neon tubes
Transportation of materials and work for installation

My perks include handmade items from yours truly:

Handwritten thank you notes including one of my Rorschach inkblots
Hand-made jewelry works
Prints of neon works
Neon signs!
