Created by THINKTHING STUDIO, Balance is a portable, wireless and timeless task lamp that is with a twist to the standard lamp. A tool to enhance the quality of lifestyle as both a functional and decorative piece. With the octagon shape, Balance is able to stand in 7 different angles and wireless charge on 3 faces. The customizable settings allow users to decide between 4 ranges of brightness and cool or warm lighting, Balance is tailored to all kinds of user needs. Balance 2.0 will be relaunched after 10 years, this time through a crowdfunding platform.

Our Inspiration 10 Years Ago
10 years ago, THINKTHING STUDIO’s founder, Jason Li, designed Balance to reimagine the basics of lamps by putting the focus back to the fundamental needs and rethinking what is actually necessary. A lot of the original design was not able to be included in the final product due to the client’s budget like the adjustable colour temperature and the wireless charging feature. However, counterfeit products appeared around the world of our design from 10 years ago in recent years, therefore, we decided to create an updated 2021 version of Balance with upgraded technology and appearance now that it will be one of our in-house products.

Design & Production Process
THINKTHING has been collaborating with a sheltered workshop in Hong Kong throughout the years and engaging them in the assembly line for our in-house designed products so that more people can see how much potential as a contributing community they are. This time, they will be much more involved with the production – from assembly to packaging. We believe the manufacturing industry in Hong Kong still has much potential and we can shine a new light on ‘Made in Hong Kong’ products once again. THINKTHING will be working closely with the workshop to provide any assistance and make specific tools that can help the members on the production.

Three-Sided Wireless Charge — Balance’s base designed to be an auto-center charge, with its 3 Qi wireless power receivers that allow three angles of charging, which you don’t have to worry about adjusting the angle if it’s out of battery.
Octagon Rotation — You can position Balance in 7 angles to match your needs in different situations. It can be a desktop lamp, task lamp, or decorative lamp by adjusting the angle and brightness.
Portable Design — Balance is a wireless lamp with 6 hours of battery usage that allows you to complete your task wherever you need lights.
Customizable settings — Four Ranges of Brightness with both cool & warm colour temperature lighting
Transparent Body — See-through body that does not block your view when working directly below the lamp.

Hoping Company – Promote Sustainable Ecosystem
THINKTHING is starting a new product line named Hoping Company, a small nod to the Boring Company as a fun personal hobby for our brand, which helps anyone who is facing difficulties by making simple tools to assist with their work and achieve efficient and exceptional results. During this pandemic, we have realised the importance of maintaining a sustainable manufacturing industry in Hong Kong. With factories closing down and limits on transportation, the role of our sheltered workshop has been a significant help. We hope the machines/tools we’ve made will allow the world to acknowledge the potential of sheltered workshops and through Hoping Company, we hope to instill confidence in others to involve them more in productions!

Behind the Team
THINKTHING Studio was founded by Jason Li in 2011 to develop new products and technological products. The team has recently created a well-loved foldable reusable ZTRAW. THINKTHING Studio has won awards from world renowned design awards including Japan’s Good Design Award, South Korea’s K-Design Award and IDA Award etc.
