92% of New Years Resolutions fail and most gyms get a quarter or more of their new memberships in January. You can eliminate the excuses to workout by making the workout at home.

Cofounders, Justin Mendelson and David Gritz started Perfect Burpee after one-too-many burpees on a flimsy yoga mats. They realized that traditional yoga and workout mats were never designed for high-energy exercises such as cross training, P90X, dumbbell workouts, and of yes of course – burpees. Perfect Burpee is a high-performance and slip resistant workout mat designed for athletes doing vigorous training at-home, outdoors, or on the go.

“Perfect Burpee is long enough for burpees, wide enough for wide-pushups, and durable enough for kettlebells,” says Mendelson.

It is constructed with a slip-resistant nano-coated material on a layer of natural rubber. And, it features clever designs such as angled edges to condition great form and to make it easy to rollup for storage.

In conjunction with the Kickstarter launch, the cofounders are hosting the 2015 Boston Fitness Gala, a celebration of fitness with over 450 athletes and active enthusiasts in attendance. Perfect Burpee will launch its personal workout mat at 9pm on Jan 14th, 2015 at the Gala. The product will be available for backing on Kickstarter along with various workout accessories.

Determined to build the best product on the market, Justin and David tested dozens of high-end yoga mats to determine the perfect combination of comfort and durability.

“We both workout at home, so we were determined to build a product that we could both use every day,” said Gritz.

This is also why they’ve decided to run a Kickstarter campaign to try and crowdsource the $20,000 necessary for an initial product run, to continue design work, to build a community fitness enthusiasts, and to produce the Perfect Burpee at scale.

Kickstarter campaigns operate under an “all-or-nothing” funding model so if the Perfect Burpee project doesn’t reach its goal at the end of 35 days then Mendelson and Gritz go home empty-handed. To learn more about their project, go to www.perfectburpee.com.
