My name is Tyler Madison, and I am the game designer for Primary, a strategy card game that is currently live on Kickstarter. Primary is a game that I designed after being frustrated with good strategic card games being ruined due to card rarity and large variation. I made a claim that any card game should only have a small subset of strategies that players choose what degree to commit themselves to that discipline. A balance of flexibility verses mastery. Such a game would also allow players equal customization opportunity so the player with the best execution of their strategy and reaction to their opponent would come out victorious, not the individual who happened to spend the most money on his deck outside of the game.
This card game idea, developed into what is now Primary. I have throughly tested it over the last year, and now it has reached a point of completion, besides the fact that there is no funding to produce the game itself. Play testers who were familiar with card games like Magic the Gathering, Yugioh, and the Pokemon Trading Card Game fell in love with this game, even in it’s earliest stages. It also has a deceivingly simplistic look to it and I believe could have a wider market then the average trading card game.
Our Kickstarter is going to be live until March 27th and I have several stretch goals that I would love to be able to hit. One stretch goal is to fund to first of two planned expansions for the game, after the rules have been finalized. Our backers can even become an official play tester of the expansion and try it out be fore the game is officially out.
