Pittsburgh, PA, July 11 — Penny the Pink Nose Poodle is a children’s picture book series that shares the story of rescue puppies and their journey to find friendship and acceptance. This award winning series is to be developed into an animated series for preschool age viewers that portrays a group of odd-balls championing the world by staying true to themselves and embracing the uniqueness in us all.
Penny the Pink Nose Poodle: A Day with Zoey is the 1st Place Purple Dragonfly Book Award Winner for Animals/Pets and a Gold Recipient in the Mom’s Choice Awards. This animated series would continue the storytelling adventures of Penny and her group of friends as they travel the world making friends and spreading kindness. Penny illustrates that everyone has something that makes them feel different, but that your differences are what make you unique. In fact, your differences make you wonderful!
Penny and her friends, Zoey the rambunctious good-natured pup and Jack the spunky, slightly unpredictable spider-monkey, travel to new locations and work together when faced with unexpected challenges. Sometimes conflict stems from the mockery of unkind tricksters, but often the group of eccentrics work to help the new friends they meet to battle the fears each animal has about their own insecurities.
As an animated series, Penny the Pink Nose Poodle’s adventures will resonate with all viewers as everyone can relate to a situation in which they felt “different.” Destigmatizing “differences” in animated programming is one way to help provide early childhood viewers with the visual and auditory tools necessary to combat bullying and build a kinder community.
Penny’s message is Different is Wonderful, but this is an idea that everyone can relate. She teaches the best way to fit in is by celebrating the ways each of us stand out.
