Pantone’d art illustration portraits. Created from 1,600 individual colour swatches. Custom made from your own photos.

WHAT IS A PANTONE’D PORTRAIT?
Pantone’d portraits are created from individual colour swatches. Each piece of art is created from 1,600 individual colour swatches. Every swatch is the average colour hue of that particular square section of the image.
Zoomed in, the art is just a series of abstract block swatch colours. Only when you step back or squint do you actually see the full image in all its glory and detail.

I am hoping to gain funding to have the opportunity to create custom, high quality Pantone’d prints from your favourite photographs.
My prints are not just a great wall art, they’re also a great gift for anyone who is into art, design, interiors or anything else creative.

WHERE’D THE IDEA COME FROM?
Bizarrely the idea for Pantone’d portraits evolved from my passion of gaming, specifically retro gaming.
I was creating some simple retro pixel art images for my wall and required something I could use for my pixels. With my design background, colour swatches seemed like the perfect solution. The whole thing snowballed from there.

I then created a series of comic book swatch art and then some based on starwars characters…. and now here I am.

WHAT IS A PANTONE COLOUR SWATCH ANYWAY?
The Pantone solid colour system has over 1100 individually named and numbered colours. The Pantone matching system was devised for the graphics, printing and publishing industries as a way of specifying and controlling colours for print output.

WHO DOES THE ARTIST THINK HE IS?
I’m just a humble, creative type from Newcastle Upon Tyne, England, who loves art, design and beautiful colourful things. I have always created, but never had the confidence to promote anything I have done. It’s only in the last year or so that I have revealed anything I have made to be viewed. Check out my blog page for more info about me, my history, and to see some of the stuff i’ve been up to:

Creating colour swatch art is massively rewarding. Taking a photo and converting it into simple colour swatch art is time consuming, fun… and the end result, to me, is almost always beautiful.

WHAT REWARDS WILL YOU GET?
This has been ridiculously difficult to decide upon. I wanted everyone who funded me to get something of value (Not just a basic boring thankyou).

If succesfully funded, everyone who pledges £5 or more will recieve a 40+ page pdf digi book of my pantone’d works and a few more interesting works by myself. Also everyone who funds me will be mentioned and thanked in the pdf book and on my web blog. The Pdf digibook will be of high quality … but won’t be print quality at large sizes.

For funding of £10 or more you will be sent signed artist prints. Printed onto paper, canvas or acrylic each one will be checked and signed by myself. Every piece will be unique.

Fund £30 or more and I will personally create your own piece of pantone’d art from any photo of your choice.
All prints signed by myself and marked to show that they are original limited edition of 1 single unique print. If I ever get famous, they could be worth thousands…. you never know.

I can create your Pantone’d art in 2 options:
1. Adobe Illustrator Pantone Swatch colour picker style.
2. Traditional Pantone’d swatch art with customised name.
Note – Smaller prints can only be created in illustrator style swatches as text on the traditional style is just too small and illegible.

Unfortunately I cannot deliver larger prints outside of the UK. (The costs for shipping art overseas are crazy expensive.)
If money is not an issue, send me a message and I will find out shipping costs for you or sort something.

THE GOAL!
My Goal is for just £1,500 of backing but I calculate I could cope with upwards of £7,500 (May be some delay if more than that.)
If there are any delays, all affected parties will be informed as soon as is humanly possible. My Goal is for just £1,500 of backing but I calculate I could cope with upwards of £7,500 (May be some delay if more than that.)

If I raise my goal target, (once I recover from the elation), I will contact everyone who donated and give details on what to do next. Most likely I will email an order form so I can get full details and keep everything organised. I will also, need to be emailed a photo so I can create your art.

I will work through my rewards in the order in which people pledged. The sooner you pledge… the quicker you will get your reward.
