December 19, 2013 – GRAYLING, MI – Paddle Hard Brewing, the first business to open in support of the Michigan Main Street Program, will be Grayling’s one and only brew pub located on “main street” at 227 E. Michigan Avenue. Set to open spring 2014, the small-batch brew pub is currently raising funds through a crowdfunding campaign found at http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/paddle-hard-brewing.

Dave Vargo, owner of Paddle Hard Brewing,  said, “The main idea behind Paddle Hard is to help revive our downtown and show people that Grayling is changing its identity and becoming an artisan-driven community. Paddle Hard Brewing will be the business that enhances the atmosphere within the downtown area. We need nationwide support of our campaign to make it happen. The community’s support and encouragement has been overwhelmingly positive, and I am excited and ready to give them Paddle Hard Brewing.”

In addition to producing its own boutique beer, Paddle Hard Brewing will offer unique craft beer from around the state and wood-fired, artisan-style food. The theme is based on the large population of people who visit Grayling to canoe/kayak the Au Sable River.

In order to raise money for brewing and other equipment purchases, Vargo recently created the Indiegogo.com crowdfunding campaign. Indiegogo.com is an international crowdfunding website whose purpose is to fund a project or venture by raising small amounts of money from a large number of people.

The campaign, which runs through February 11, 2014, will offer several reward packages in return for contributions made. Contributions can be made in any amount, and reward packages range from $10 up to $2500. The overall goal is to raise $30,000.
