Emily’s World is a NSFW Kickstarter offering an art nude photobook, limited edition fine art photography, collectible gallery cards, and an oversized portfolio album all by art photographer A. K. Nicholas. The photobook is an 8.5×11 inch autographed hardcover, with 100 images; it clocks in at $85. For those that prefer quality over quantity, their is the $300 “Deluxe Oversize Portfolio Album” that promises the highest quality printing of the 26 enclosed images.
Backers on a budget can choose from several digital downloads priced from $25 and up. The middle ground is a softcover book, which will also save you a little on international shipping (US shipping is included with any of the books.) Also available is a bonus package of out-takes, casual fashion, lingerie, and behind-the-scenes images that express her quirky humour and coy personality.
The creator promises your choice of a 5 minute or 30 minute documentary video with behind-the scenes footage and commentary from the artist.
The flagship offerings are original art, in the form of limited editions and even oil paintings, showing the creator is more of an artist using photography than a traditional photographer.
This is not the first A. K. photobook to feature a nude Emily. She was in his Industrial Nudes and Ample Beauty photobooks, for example. But Emily’s World is the first dedicated to showcasing Emily. It shows her at the beach, in the studio, and engaged in urban exploration. The creator says “Emily displays a spirit that is seldom seen. I prefer to work with enthusiasts rather than professional models for these types of results.”
The campaign shows the featured model’s quirky expressions as she holds up signs that serve as the section headers for rewards, concept, shipping, and so on. If funded, this will be A. K. Nicholas’s twenty-third successful Kickstarter campaign. The project goes live Saturday March 20 and runs three weeks until April 10.
