Anvil Products has developed a line of products that changes the game in the phone accessory market. These include a sleek, durable iPhone 5/5S case, wallet, and case/wallet system where design and aesthetics meet function. Let’s face it: most iPhone cases are an afterthought—often a piece of flimsy, insubstantial plastic that cheapens the beauty and feel of the phone.
That is why I designed the Anvil iPhone case, wallet, and combination wallet/case system. The CNC machined process and subsequent finishing steps allow us to maintain the same level of visual and tactile design as the Apple product with a measurement accuracy level of .0005 inches (that’s less than the diameter of a human hair).
This whole idea came about two years ago when I hit the reset button amidst a revelation that I needed to love what I do everyday. I operated my own design/manufacturing facility for 16 years but missed the days back at Art Center in Pasadena when all we did was design and create. My career has ranged from being a freelance graphic designer at Disney to positions in advertising/design firms in Los Angeles. But I needed to go back to my roots, and my first endeavor became the iPhone 5/5S protective shells.
Machined out of a solid block of 6061 aluminum, glass bead blasted, and anodized in the very same process as current Apple products, the 1.9 ounce iPhone case is designed to be a thin, durable, outer shell that mimics the design integrity of the iPhone itself. The Chamfered edges and bead-blasted finish are an extension of the inherent beauty of the Apple products. The nanofoam suction pad securely holds the phone in place ensuring that your case and phone do not separate when an impact occurs.
The wallet (6.4 ounces) and iPhone wallet (5.8 ounces) use a unique swivel hinge coupled with a spring-loaded mechanism that elevates up to 3 credit cards and cash out of the wallet as you open it (and an internal money clip keeps an additional 2 cards and 5-6 bills in place in the stand-alone wallet). When you’re ready to close the wallet, securely swivel the two halves back into place, and the neodymium magnetic lock secures the system while the integrated polyurethane gasket creates a “smooth touch” in the swivel action.
All products are available in 4 colors: natural silver, black, copper, and gunmetal. We worked with a metal finishing company that specializes in aerospace components to achieve the highest quality finish available. This multiple step process includes electro-chemically cleaning the cases after a porcelain tumbling procedure that creates a soft touch, after which they are then hard anodized and sealed.
We offer single-sided engraving on all products for $10, and double-sided engraving on the stand-alone wallet for $20. Choose from many designs or upload your own original design. Completely encased in aluminum, they provide a shielded barrier to any scanner that could potentially capture your credit card information.
Every part of our process has been executed in the United States–from the raw aluminum to the machining and finishing processes to the packaging that is sourced from companies in the US. Even the machines we use in the manufacturing process are made in America.
