London | September 24, 2015 — Lead Mate was invented as an ergonomic and safe alternative to wrapping the dog leash around your wrist or using a retractable lead. According to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission reports, there are over 16,000 hospital-treated injuries related to pet leashes every year in the United States alone. Lead Mate is a simple device that attaches to your existing standard length leash and provides a second, easy to grip, safe point of contact when closer control of your dog is required.

Sustainable – each Lead Mate and all packaging will be produced from 100% recycled materials. As part of our commitment to a sustainable world and to offset environmental impacts from manufacturing & shipping, we will also plant a tree for every backer of our project.
Giving back – In America alone 1.2 million dogs are euthanized every year due to shelter shortages. Our goal is to first reduce, then eliminate this number so 10% of all profits will be donated to ‘no kill’ rescues and shelters. In addition to providing funds, Lead Mates are also donated to help with daily walking of shelter dogs, which can often be a difficult task. Several shelters were involved with the development and initial prototype testing with great results.
The idea for Lead Mate came about as a result of wrapping my own dogs leash around my hand, which progressed to tying knots for something easier to hold on to. Then one day I thought; “There has to be a better way than this!”
