Rave Reviews and High Demand for Healthier Food Prompts Online Farmer’s Market to Grow to Tri-State Area
Ridgewood, NJ, December 9, 2013, — If high fructose corn syrup, preservatives, hormones and GMO’s are the evil villains in today’s food landscape, then Caren Sinclair-Kay is a modern day superhero. Sinclair-Kay, mother of 3 and digital and e-commerce entrepreneur, has infused her passion for nutritious, all natural, delicious food into her new company Fresh From the Farm 365, which makes local farm fresh food accessible to consumers in Northern NJ. Five months after launch, she is kicking off a crowd funding campaign through indiegogo to enable her to share local goodness with more people, expanding service to the entire Tri-State area.
“Just walk down the aisles of your supermarket and check out the food labels. It’s too easy to find unhealthy foods,“ said Sinclair-Kay. “I want to offer more people an alternative. I want to make it easy and convenient for more people to make nutritious choices and live a healthy lifestyle.”
Sinclair-Kay is hoping to raise $20,000 through indiegogo – igg.me/freshfromthefarm365.com – to fund a new delivery process, which will allow for a broadened service area. The company will be transitioning from using Personal Pickers to perishable delivery specialists. Those who pledge will receive a sampling of what is sold on Fresh from the Farm 365. At higher pledge levels, donations will be made to city Harvest and Table to Table, two organizations that bring fresh, healthy food to under served communities. The deadline is January 18, 2014.
Fresh from the Farm 365 http://www.freshfromthefarm365.com offers just-picked fruits and vegetables; meat, poultry and dairy from animals raised without hormones or antibiotics; and an array of baked goods and specialty items produced by local artisans using the very same ingredients Fresh from the Farm 365 sells. Customer’s can subscribe to one or more of the weekly delivery plans — Everyday Essentials, Simply Specialty, Positively Produce and Decidedly Dairy.
The online market draws upon some of the Tri-State area’s best family farms and food purveyors, including Blooming Hill Farms, Samascott Orchards, Phillips Farms, Hot Bread Kitchen, Martin’s Pretzels, Beth’s Farm Kitchen, and Montclair Bread Company.
With a proven entrepreneurial track record leading DoodleDeals (acquired by Plum District) and Red Jam Media (acquired by ThirdAge Inc.), Sinclair-Kay brings to the local food market much experience in building and scaling online business ventures.
