Los Angeles, CA – Toks Olagundoye (ABC’s The Neighbors) and ReKon Productions are gearing up to launch a Kickstarter campaign to fund the freshman season of their new web series, CALLBACKS. A workplace comedy set against the idyllic world of Hollywood, the series focuses on the inter-workings of a quirky, boutique casting office. The Kickstarter campaign officially launched Wednesday, July 10th with a goal of $15,000 to fund the last six episodes of the first season.
Callbacks stars writer/creator Toks Olagundoye as MJ White, a high-strung but passionate casting director who wants to cast the next big Oscar winner. The series also stars Michael Scovotti and Matt Jones. Scovotti plays Tom White, a casting director who doesn’t care if he’s casting a B-horror film or the next Citizen Kane as long as he’s working. While Jones brings life to Jan, the child-at-heart cousin of MJ who is just looking to have the best time he can while working in the Hollywood playground.
According to Olagundoye it is the amazing chemistry between herself and her two co-stars that inspired the creation of Callbacks. The actors first met on the set of the independent feature film Democracy At Work. At the end of production three felt that they needed to find a new project on which to work together again. Olagundoye wrote Callbacks to be the vehicle in which she, Scovotti, and Jones could reunite.
The series revolves around the hardships a small business faces, especially when their business involves the unique and eccentric personalities of Hollywood actors and executives.
