Manchester, NH — January 15, 2016 | Belanger Books LLC announced today that it is launching a Kickstarter campaign at www.kickstarter.com to publish My Peculiar Family, an anthology of unreleased gothic horror and unusual stories combining New York Times bestselling authors (Christopher Golden, Tracy Hickman), Amazon bestselling authors (William Meikle, Derrick Belanger, Rob Watts), award winning authors (James A. Moore, Stacey Longo), and many exciting new talents. Popular entertainment podcast Sci Fi Saturday Night has partnered with Belanger Books on this campaign in order to raise funding for a series of new media projects.
What makes this anthology so original? A woman by the name of Chyna Dale discovers a box of old tintype photos tucked away in her attic. Each picture features a mysterious portrait of a single person. Who are these people? What are their stories? What makes them so… peculiar? In order to answer these questions, all of the authors received one of Chyna Dale’s tintypes, a name for the photographed person, and the person’s occupation. From these portraits, the authors created their own unique stories. Some of the stories are more on the horror side, some more paranormal, some science-fiction/fantasy, but all are linked together by Chyna Dale’s discovery.
When asked if he would like to be part of this project, “…I jumped at the opportunity,” said Derrick Belanger, co-founder of Belanger Books. “Nothing like this has ever been published before… My Peculiar Family will probably be considered the greatest horror anthology of 2016”, noting that “…this anthology unites these authors, who have sold millions of books between them, to come together for a common cause”. The majority of funding from the Kickstarter project will provide the seed money for Sci-Fi Saturday Night to expand into new media, beginning with a line of extraordinary horror and science fiction books, also to be published in partnership with Belanger Books.
Rewards for My Peculiar Family campaign contributions include original artwork from Eisner Award-nominee Sara Richard and graphic novelist Peter Vinton jr., plus signed novels and CDs donated by several of the authors. For one special reward, New York Times bestseller Tracy Hickman will let you name his story’s characters and choose their occupations.
Kickstarter campaigns operate under an “all-or-nothing” funding model, so the My Peculiar Family project must reach its goal at the end of 45 days in order for this anthology to be published.
