A small home based start up business based in North Phoenix, and operated by a disabled person has started a funding campaign on the crowdfunding website Kickstarter. According to the new business owner, Dean Swander, he is attempting to raise $6000 for the purchase of a Laser Engraving Machine made by Full Spectrum Laser, LLC. in Las Vegas, NV.
Full Spectrum Laser itself was developed in part with Kickstarter Funding. Mr. Swander’s Campaign, the Ultimate Wood Pen Project has so far gained supporters from all over the world for his custom engraved pens.
Mr. Swander was a Computer Technician for a local computer manufacturer until an accident at work left him with limited use of his left hand and an inability to work. He has reportedly grown tired of being unable to work in any way, and feels that this is a way in which he can begin to work again, since there will be very limited lifting, and all other duties of the job can be done with his one good hand. The site for his Kickstarter Campaign is www.kickstarter.com
His project is expected to run until March 18, 2014 and if successful, will finance the purchase of the Laser Engraving Machine, and the materials to fulfil the rewards that he is offering. Kickstarter is an all or nothing program meaning, if $6000 in backers do not support the project, the project will receive nothing, and the backers will be charged nothing.
