Austin, TX — Charmed Labs, creators of the popular Pixy camera for Arduino, recently launched a new product on Kickstarter.
They’re calling it Vizy, and it promises to make machine vision and AI applications much easier to use and deploy. Currently, in order to leverage AI technology you need to know how to install and configure complicated libraries. Vizy comes with these libraries (like TensorFlow) already set up, so you can get on with creating your dream project.
Vizy ships with several included applications – for example, the Birdfeeder app has Vizy sit patiently in your backyard and monitor your birdfeeder. It uses deep learning algorithms to identify up to 20 different bird species, and can upload pictures to the cloud. It can also defend the birdfeeder from unwanted visitors like squirrels, by squirting them with a harmless jet of water.
Other applications have Vizy team up with a telescope to become a sophisticated image acquisition device for the night sky. Or, use the Motionscope app to track multiple objects and measure their positions and velocities so you can, you know…observe the physics of your potato cannon, trebuchet, or pool table. Plus, remotely feed and interact with your pet, make time-lapse videos, and more.
Vizy is a joy to use, thanks to an elegant web interface. You can easily configure the applications and see what Vizy sees remotely, via any web browser. If you’d like to add your own apps, the interface can be modified just by writing Python code – no need to mess with Javascript, CSS or HTML. Finally, Vizy has a bevy of optional accessories, like a weatherproof enclosure for outdoor use, a cellular modem for remote deployment, and a lighting kit to help brighten your day!
The Kickstarter campaign ends on October 30th. Additional information, including photos and resources can be found at vizycam.com
