New York, NY  Neibr seeks to connect nearby people through user activities, but the founding team can’t live on love and PB&J forever.

Neibr, a free social activities app for iPhone and Android that softly launched in Brooklyn this June, helps city folk do the things they love most while making new friends. Fueled by their desire to connect likeminded individuals and funded by their own life’s savings, the Neibr team launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise the $10,000 needed to continue the yearlong project into the fall.

The location-based platform lets nearby people (the Neibrs) organize and join activities of all types up to one week in advance. Boasting 10 categories, including Food and Drink, Art and Culture, Games, and Sports, users can filter their personal preferences by distance, day of the week, attendee age and group size.

Whether you’re looking for a friendly coffee date, concert goer or extra players for a pickup game in the park, Neibr is a safe, friendly social tool for anyone and everyone at anytime. With attendee approval, messaging and calendar management capabilities, it makes it easy to make the most of your free time.

“Neibr is the day-to-day friend you can turn to when you’re new to the area, looking to expand your social circle, or simply wanting to do something fun when your current friends are busy,” said Founder & CEO Michael Murdock, who thought up the idea when he moved to New York City and didn’t know anyone.

In a city full of long train rides, hectic work schedules and countless dating apps, Neibr exists to provide a convenient, fun, pressure-free way of making new friends while doing the things you love most.

Available for free on iTunes and Google Play, individuals who like the idea behind the app are encouraged to donate to the Neibr Kickstarter campaign at www.kickstarter.com and follow us on Twitter and Instagram at @neibrapp.
