Kickstarter Campaign for Ned the Phone Monster Will Help People Change Their Smartphone Habits for Good

Kansas City, Missouri – June 3rd, 2014 – Phone Monsters, Inc announced a goal to raise $80,000 with the support of Kickstarter, the world’s largest crowdfunding platform, to order custom injection molds and start the first round of production of Ned the Phone Monster. Ned stands for No Electronic Distractions. Ned the Phone Monster is a landing place for smartphones… a visual reminder to be present. Ned is a hungry blue monster who loves impromptu dance parties, family dinners, and has an amazing sense of adventure… a tangible tool to help us all create good habits around phone usage and social media.

“I had one too many experiences that involved me saying something like, ‘hold on a minute… I’m just checking my notifications on Facebook’ or ‘I’m just going to check Instagram really quick…’ Social media is amazing and it has a time and a place… and my iPhone helps me accomplish SO many important tasks in new and efficient ways. But I’m ready to get rid of the constant distraction… and remember that when it’s family time, I should put my phone away.

And that’s why we created Ned the Phone Monster. I dreamed up this crazy idea two years ago, after one too many times of looking up from my phone and seeing little faces waiting patiently for me to see them. Our family needed a solution to the smartphone distraction problem, so we dreamed up a monster to “eat” our smartphones during family time. Now we’re bringing him to life,” Jenny Solar, creator and co-founder of Phone Monsters, Inc said.

The idea is simple, but incredibly powerful. Ned the Phone Monster was designed to sit on your kitchen counter or on your coffee table. When you’re spending time with friends and family, simply ‘feed the phone monster’ and put your focus back on the people you love.
