Anthony Jermaine’s debut mini album, #LoveLifeAndGod, is ready to be crowdfunded.

Around mid 2012, Anthony Jermaine Thompson stepped into the recording studio as a solo singer/songwriter for the first time. The process kicked his creative juices into high gear and the single released as a free download exclusively available online to the approval of fans, and even received some radio time. After much anticipation and some traveling by the artist, he’s ready to return to the studio to record his first EP, #LoveLifeAndGod, which will utilize crowdfunding platform Indiegogo to rally funding for everything from studio time to CD printing.

“I wasn’t born into a musical family,” says Jamaica-born Jermaine, “but one day when I was about 15, something in me allowed me to believe I have the ability to do music, so I pursued it and have been doing it ever since.” Having spent half his life in Jamaica and half in the U.S. and, most recently, having moved to Uganda has given him a unique perspective—one that’s had a great impact on his music, which has been composed on two different continents. Despite being a man of faith, his songs tend to focus on the realities of life as opposed to the theory of religion. “I’ve observed that quite a number of people either think the grass is always greener or browner on the other side. My conclusion is this: it’s just grass, and grass changes color. Regardless of our religion, race, or grass, our humanity binds us together.”

The EP will include both recent and older tracks from the artist, and will be produced cross-continentally, thanks to modern technology. The Indiegogo campaign with the same name as the EP will provide different perks for different levels of funding support, including a mystery bonus track. As it says on the campaign page, “Everyone can play a major role in helping to get the campaign funded by getting the word out to people you know (and even those you don’t know), regardless of whether you’re able to contribute financially.”
