Interactive startup Bottlepops, who first rose to fame after appearing on Shark Tank, has today released a scintillating new character and its first Kickstarter product in the form of ‘Mr President’.
Voiced by comedian Ben Price who has dubbed ‘Australia’s Best Impersonator’, the talking bottle opener delivers some classic presidential sayings including, “fake news” and “that Obama is one bad hombre”.
Bottlepops founder Greg Jury, said that the product was deliberately controversial and that the renowned one-liners were set to bring endless entertainment to the everyday beverage experience.
“This product was a no-brainer. Love or hate him, his quotes are celebrated – or cringed at – worldwide and we saw a major opportunity to add him to our line-up of revered characters. We’re half-expecting ‘cease and desist’ from the White House, which would be something we will hang on our wall in the office.
“Two years after we landed a life-changing investment on Shark Tank, we took on another strategic investor – serial entrepreneur – Shane Yeend has stepped in to bring some major licensing and global retail partners on board to boost Bottlepops into the global market. This includes our deal with Marvel launching with Deadpool, Black Panther, Hulk, Captain America and more. In Australia and New Zealand we have inked deals with the AFL and All Blacks.
“With North America being the big focus, with A List characters and brands we can take this $A1M Australian company to $A15M fast. Then the world will be their oyster. The boys have done a great job preparing for the wild ride ahead. Funko went from $800,000 to $800M in a few short years in collectables. These are collectables with sound chips as a novelty bottle opener”. says Shane Yeend
Based on an idea hatched by sport-crazed mates Greg Jury and Stephen Brooks over a beer in Japan, Bottlepops’ talking bottle openers are a ‘world-first’ product, with patent approved in Australia in 2017 & Pending in others the result of almost a decade of product development to craft the perfect beer opening experience, the openers are designed around a host of sporting and entertainment themes. Fully customizable, they are aimed at both individual and corporate customers with order sizes ranging from 24 to over 500,000.
“Bottlepops’ genius is in the simplicity of the product – it is not only functional, but it has huge entertainment and novelty value. Bottlepops have the potential to be the bottle-openers of choice for fans across the world,” he said.
Shark Tank investor Andrew Banks, who is now Sydney based, added: “This product and the founders behind it are unique and the licensing opportunities in the US market are nothing short of ‘huge’ so we are pumped.”
