Andrew Bawidamann’s pinups evoke the style of old school bomber nose art. His work has been popular with gamers, military folks and pinup lovers for many years. We finally got to meet him in person at GenCon last year and set a plan in motion we’ve been secretly plotting for years. Andrew has been approached to do before, but nothing ever came of it, until now. We launched our Kickstarter project June 24th to raise the funds to make this project happen.

Andrew is very excited to see this project realized. He supplied us with his original art for this project and has agreed to hand sign limited editions fine art prints as incentives for this project’s backers. Lately he has been working on even more designs and has been highlighted in a documentary on independent artists that is currently in production. Keep an eye out for “Making It”.

Andrew is also allowing us to release a Limited Edition Run of some of his artwork as Giclee Canvas prints. This special edition will be printed using the best digital printers in the industry, signed by Andrew himself, UV coated and gallery wrapped on stretcher bars, ready to hang. These will only be available through the run of this Kickstarter project.

Who We Are

Kirk, Liliana and Torin are long time miniature enthusiasts and avid modelers. We started Hangar 18 miniatures to bring the best miniatures and tools to modelers. Our slogan is “By Modelers for Modelers”, and our goal is to be a resource to painters and modelers alike. It has been our dream to do a line of high quality 54mm miniatures based on the Bawidamann Pinups. To transfer all the intricate details from the original drawings into the sculpt, we went with the 54mm (1:32 scale. Additionally we chose to cast them in resin, as resin allows for superb detail and is easy to work with – making it the most preferred material for serious figure modelers and painters.

Now we’re finally getting a chance to make it happen and we’re hoping you will lend us some help. We are working with an excellent 3D artist to bring Andrew’s work into the 3D world. Alain Viesca is an amazing artist in his own right and has agreed to help us translate Andrew’s 2D visions into 3D sculptures. We hope this introduction to the world of miniatures will get him hooked for the long run. Come by the site and see the side-by-side progress shots, and see what we mean. We hope to develop a line of miniatures based on Alain’s art in the future.

Working with Andrew’s art combined with Alain’s sculpting skills, we are getting very close to production ready. We’ve spent our time for research, building relationships with our artists and vendors and tested the production process to make sure the production quality is excellent. This will be a miniature line we can be proud of and that you will want in your collection. To make this project have an even sweeter finish, some great painters  Mathieu Fontaine, Jennifer Haley, Jessica Rich and Aaron Lovejoy have come onboard as our box art painters. They have also agreed to paint some models for this Kickstarter campaign.

This is an expensive line to produce and we hope you’ll join us and support our efforts to make these miniatures a reality.
