Brooklyn, NY Brooklyn based design company Design Unsanctioned has launched its latest collection of everyday carry accessories for men on Kickstarter. Inspired by architectural details of Brooklyn’s historical neighborhoods and minimal design of the Mid-Century Era, The Spencer Collection features four products. Made out of machined brass, walnut wood and top grain leather, the bottle opener, mini opener, key hook, and leather key fob scream sophistication. Design Unsanctioned managed to combine modern aesthetics and contemporary production methods with a mix of timeless, traditional materials. Pieces in Spencer Collection are priced between 18 and 35 US dollars and are all made in Brooklyn, NY.
According to Design Unsanctioned, Spencer Collection is meant to be homage to Brooklyn’s rich past and dynamic present. They chose to work only with local fabricators to produce each piece. Materials selected for Spencer Collection are lasting and age beautifully, making for timeless objects of quality and beauty that their owners will keep for their lives.
ABOUT DESIGN UNSANCTIONED
Design Unsanctioned is a Brooklyn based multidisciplinary design studio launched in 2013 with a goal of producing well-designed, locally crafted high quality products. It was started by industrial designer Konrad Giersz, Polish transplant who moved to United States ten years ago and Brittany Dolence, art director, Ohio native and a Brooklynite for the past eleven years. Through their designs they set to explore collisions between traditional materials, craftsmanship, functionality and progressive, modern technology.
Konrad Giersz brings product design and production experience to the table. Having worked with companies such as Fisher-Price, K’Nex, Snapple, Dr.Pepper, Pepsi and many more he possesses knowledge necessary for developing and producing goods either abroad or locally.
Brittany’s understated sense of aesthetic is what makes Design Unsanctioned so appealing. She is the person running everything from behind the scenes, from photography to packaging. Through working with brands such as Brooks Brothers, Free People, Anthropology, Bloomingdales and Nordstrom she has developed an impeccable sense for branding and art direction.
