Be the first to own one of these exclusive plush toys, and help bring the Mythicals to life!

Toronto Ontario – The Monster Factory toy company is thrilled to announce the launch of their Kickstarter campaign, The Mythicals: Handmade Plush Toys! The Mythicals are a brand new line of plush toys based on classic monsters but re-imagined and re-designed in the adorable Monster Factory style. The team hopes to raise enough funds through Kickstarter to have their new line of special “Studio Edition” characters manufactured in their hometown of Toronto, Canada.

The Monster Factory developed the concept for this new plush line after receiving numerous requests from fans to see them re-create traditional mythical beasts like Yeti or Bigfoot, in their unique Monster Factory style. To choose which classic creatures to make first, the Monster Factory turned to their social network and asked their fans to help them choose. After an overwhelming response online, the Unicorn, Dragon, and Cthulhu were chosen as the first three characters to be released in the Mythical line.

The Mythicals are approximately 10 inches tall and made of a soft, high quality micro polar fleece. Each Mythical features a special edition Kickstarter label and a hangtag displaying his or her name and hilarious personality that will be signed by one of the creators:

A dragon named Spencer! Spencer never forgets a face. But he always, ALWAYS forgets a name.

A monster named Cthulhu (nicknamed Louie!) Usually an affable fellow, do NOT bother Louie when he’s napping. He wakes up shockingly grumpy.

A unicorn named Margot! Margot wishes that she were less conspicuous. JUST ONCE she’d like to eat a taco in peace!

Creative director, Adam Dunn, on why Kickstarter is the ideal platform to launch the Monster Factory’s new toy line, The Mythicals.

“At Monster Factory we have always valued our close relationship with our fans. Whether in person or online we look for new ways to engage them in our creative process, so Kickstarter is a perfect platform for our new line of monsters, the Mythicals. On this project we will be able to involve our fans in every step of the process – from choosing and naming the characters, to working through the production and fulfilment sides of things. With our fans’ help we are extremely excited to bring this new line of mythical creatures to life!”

With the designs, prototypes, and patterns all ready to go and even a local sewing contractor lined up to help with production, the Monster Factory is ready to bring their high quality, mythical plush to the masses…all that remains is the funding.

The team hopes to make their Mythical dreams a reality this summer, with the help of many generous Kickstarter backers. In return for pledging, backers will receive a variety of exciting rewards, the main one being the Mythical toys themselves, but there are also mini monsters to be had and for a few lucky backers who are willing to make a pledge of $1,000 or more, there is a chance to create one’s own custom plush monster with the Monster Factory design team.

The Mythicals: Handmade plush campaign launches on Kickstarter on Tuesday July 15th, 2014 at 11am. The Monster Factory hopes to raise at least $12,000 to have the toys handmade in Toronto.

ABOUT MONSTER FACTORY

The Monster Factory is a collectable toy brand, based out of Toronto, that designs and produces a line of unique and imaginative plush monsters. Its toys are best known for their impeccable quality, signature style, super-stuffed feel, and engaging personalities.

Each monster comes with their very own name and humorous write up that manages to capture their character quirks in one to two sentences. These characteristics add an extra dimension to the monster’s appeal, as collectors often find themselves relating to a particular monster’s qualities or foibles… Not to mention being drawn in by their adorable style.

As well as creating plush toys for all to love the Monster Factory also fosters an awesome and creative community of fans across a variety of social networks. For example, the Facebook page is a place for followers to become active participants in the Monster Factory world, where they are encouraged to go on scavenger hunts, to take their monsters travelling and to participate in the creative development of new characters.

The Monster Factory makes plush toys for all to love. With over 100 unique characters to decide between, choosing a monster is an enjoyable challenge.
