Why Merchants & Magic?
We always felt like 5E needed better rules and resources for the actual trade of magic items.
A simple question that GM’s have heard countless of times from their players is “can I buy a magic item?” – but the answer is far from simple.
“Every time a player wants to buy or sell a magic item, the GM has to be prepared to answer a whole bunch of questions,” says J. A. Valeur, Eventyr Games’ managing director.
“Like, what does a magic shop even look like? Who runs it? What does it sell – and what does it cost? And what stops the characters from robbing the place and making away with a dragon’s hoard of magical treasures? It’s questions like these that gave us the idea for Merchants & Magic,” he says.
