Lux Noctis presents the Infernal Tarot! A tarot deck designed and inspired by the aesthetics and imagery of all 72 Demons of the Ars Goetia and 6 arcane Infernal Dark Lords. Each card composition was outlined by human artists and reimagined by artificial intelligence. Through a synthesis of eldritch horror, biomechanical science fiction, and occult symbolism- our team integrates modern AI and human intuition, plus a touch of esoteric mystery.
Each image within the Infernal Tarot deck evokes an aesthetic of violent delights, exquisite madness, and vivacious horror. The colours chosen are vividly vibrant and the depictions of each eldritch entity is both gruesome yet enchanting. The deck is impressionable through its alien beauty infused with mystical darkness, summoning forth obscure epiphanies to the nature of these 78 demonic beings from myths and secrets untold.
The 72 Goetic Demons were first mentioned within the works of King Solomon, as summarised in The Testament of Solomon. The Lesser Key of Solomon is popularised amongst occult circles as a grimoire on demonology and created the foundations of demonic magic. It is composed of five books: The Ars Goetia, Ars Theurgia-Goetia, Ars Paulina, Ars Almadel, and Ars Notoria. The demonic entities listed within the text include infernal kings, dukes, princes, marquises, earls, knights, and presidents. Their powers range from bringing fortune into one’s life to fulfilling one’s relationship desires. The 6 Infernal Dark Lords are famous demons throughout human history who are known for holding prominent positions within the Infernal dimensions. The Infernal deck features Shatan, Lucifer, Beezlebub, Leviathan, Mammon, and Lucifuge Rofocale.
Rather than copying the traditional tarot symbolism within the classical Waite-Smith deck, our team aspired to create something contemporary and innovative. Instead, based on historical references and character analysis- we match the demon to the card it best represents and symbolises. Hereby, invoking insights into the singularity and individuality of each demon, as well as the card itself. We strived to weave a unique essence into each card, such that the deck as whole feels as if it is alive. With these cards you can go beyond what you can see, but peer deeper into the nature of the abyss itself.
“Battle not with monsters, lest ye become a monster, and if you gaze into the abyss, the abyss gazes also into you.” -Nietzsche
